Job Brief

Help On Demand is looking for an experienced Software Quality Assurance Analyst to support with manual and auotmated testing. As an integral part of a small Agile development team, the Software Quality Assurance Analyst plans, prepares, and manually executes tests for custom web and mobile applications.  This position will emphasize documentation (test planning and test case development) to a greater degree than is customary for traditional manual testers. Candidate must be able to work independently, yet collaborate with an Agile development team, end users, and other staff.

Responsibilities

  • Familiarization with the underlying business and its software applications.
  • Interpret business requirements.
  • Apply an understanding of business requirements to plan and organize testing, even when a straightforward mapping of requirements to test cases is not evident.  Given resource constraints, choose the most effective course of testing to manage risks and assure coverage.
  • Write functional test cases to be executed manually.
  • Write functional regression test cases to a more rigorous documentation standard suitable for automation.
  • Review test plans and test cases prepared by peers.
  • Execute planned and ad-hoc functional tests.
  • Execute integration and regression tests.
  • Log defects with sufficient details for the development team and business analyst to understand.
  • Efficiently isolate defects to a failing version, component, and/or environment.
  • Willing to learn how to run Automation and Performance Testing

Additional Qualifications and Skills

  • Strong documentation skills essential.
  • 2 – 5 years total experience working in a commercial software development environment with emphasis on web & .NET development.
  • Familiar with traditional SDLC AND Agile Framework.
  • Experience JIRA and test management tools.
  • Experience with Scrum Methodology.
  • Experience with API Testing and Postman desired.
  • Experience with JMeter and Selenium desired but not required.
  • Responsible, efficient, and collegial self-organizer, who can strike an appropriate balance between process rigor and practicality
  • Ability to work in fast paced, often changing environment, and learn on the fly
  • Must wear multiple hats as business needs dictate – pitch in at any time to help organization succeed
  • Collaboration with entire team critical
  • Desire to expand beyond manual testing into Automation and Performance Testing.
